History

The application and development of Electrostatic Technology Non-Chemical Water Treatment Systems has been an ongoing process for over 40 years.  The technology was pioneered by Roy C. McMahon and his company, Electrostatic Equipment Company.

A 1928 graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, McMahon held a degree in electrical engineering.  His career led him to the field of refrigeration and air conditioning.

In 1948 his company built the first commercial heat pump (utilizing heat from city water) and installed it in Kansas City, MO.  In 1964, the firm designed the first system using natural gas engines for total environmental control - refrigeration, heating and air conditioning.

McMahon made the first application of an electrostatic water treater on a cooling tower in 1957.  The results were positive and for the next three years additional units were installed.

Applications for this technology now include virtually any HVAC system such as cooling towers / chillers, boilers, heat exchangers, evaporative condensers and even machine coolants.  Our Fluidtron™ Systems represent the most recent quantum leap in product development.

Future

Electrostatic Technology harnesses physical laws to control the variables that cause both scale and microbial growth.  The technology has been stable since its inception in 1957.  Since the first successful application the only needed improvements have been how to deliver more powerful and focused treatment, enhance reliability, extend the life of the electrodes, reduce end user investment / operating costs and extend the life of the components in the system.  Fluidtron™ Systems incorporate the most recent cutting edge materials and technology, and are the 15th generation of this stable technology.

Rising chemical treatment costs, premature aging of equipment, environmental concerns, water consumption and cleanup costs, and many other issues such as ISO 14001 certifications make Fluidtron™ Systems the "Choice of Choices" for 21st Century non-chemical water treatment.
